let it snow

the weather's been frightful here. it won't do anything. it's just cold, cold, cold; then it warms up a bit; then it gets cold again, leaving us all with dreadful head colds and a fervent desire to move to Hawaii.
but last night, the happiest thing happened--it snowed! it's all gone now, of course; looking out my window, the ground is just brown and wet and sad-looking. but for a couple hours, it was the prettiest thing i have seen in a long time.

i had a helluva time trying to take pictures of it, though, because of how big the flakes were and how fast they were coming down. the camera didn't know what to focus on. these two are all right. at least you get the gist.
